Summary
Zellis - a payroll provider - was searching for a fun, memorable theme for their annual internal commercial kick-off meeting (CKOM), a two-day event for hundreds of staff that needed to make a big impact and drive momentum for the new financial year. We came up with a striking integrated theme and design for the event, and a creative plan for evolving the theme annually over the next 3-5 years.
Objectives
Refresh and revamp Zellis’ CKOM event with a smart and engaging theme that motivates attendees. Develop various theme ‘subtitles’ to build upon for the next 3-5 years.
Strategy
Using interviews with key stakeholders, we mapped out the key elements of success from previous years, and uncovered areas for improvement. Key speakers, attendees and Zellis’ CEO explained their aspirations for the event, which were to modernise design, incentivise sales staff and commercial teams to meaningfully engage with the event and launch products.
Our research led us to four key insights around the company, their audience (Zellis employees), CKOM itself and Zellis products -- all of which came down to the idea of pushing Zellis into a new era, with employees as trailblazers, taking the lead.
Idea
“Game Changers”
We created a modern, game-inspired world, harnessing the challenges, ambitions and hard-earned celebrations of Zellis employees. Game Changers centres teamwork in a vibrant and motivating environment, putting attendees in prime Player 1 position.
Zellis’ sales and commercial team found NEXT LEVEL: Unlocked in the launch year of CKOM’s redesign (May 2024), a sub-theme drenched in bright, rousing colours and a boost of confidence.
What we did

- Design assets to theme the whole event
Inspired by primary RGB colours and early computer colourways, turbo green, super pink, superstar yellow and shell blue formed a strong palette from which a modular design system was built. Four main blocks and pixelated patterns then became a customisable, interactive aesthetic to be used across the event space, invitations, Powerpoint templates and anything else necessary.
Subsequent years will take on super-charged, super-energetic themes based on powering up and fearlessly taking on challenges, all of which will build on our foundation design and reinstate the major theme of Game Changers – that Zellis is bigger, better and stronger than ever.
