We’re very excited to share the launch of Life in a Day 2020, a new documentary feature film produced by Ridley Scott’s RSA Films in association with Flying Object.
Ten years ago, on 24 July 2010, thousands of people picked up their cameras and followed a simple invitation: show us what your day looks like.
With over 80,000 clips submitted from 189 countries, Life in a Day became the biggest participatory film project ever made. From 4,500 hours of footage, director Kevin Macdonald and his team created a 90-minute feature film that premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically worldwide.
Exactly 10 years after the original film was created, Flying Object are joining forces with RSA and YouTube Originals to capture an ordinary day at an extraordinary time. People around the globe are invited to film their lives for Life in a Day 2020, and submit their footage to be included in the final film.
Flying Object has also developed and produced the global launch campaign, an enormous and multi-faceted project including a TV spot, YouTube mastheads and social assets - all translated into 40 different languages.
It’s been a fantastic ride so far, with more still to come as we get closer to filming day next week. We hope the campaign inspires thousands of people around the world to pick up their camera, and we can’t wait to see the footage we receive.
