Challenge

During the Covid-19 lockdown, young people around the world were confronted with a novel life experience. Wellcome wanted to find out the steps they were taking to stay positive and manage their mental health.

Strategy

To ensure we managed to capture a range of different perspectives, we used multiple different methods designed to evolve and adapt as the crisis unfolded, responding to the needs of the project as it developed.

Idea

We created four methods to capture participants' lived experiences: WhatsApp conversations with daily creative prompts; video chats which took place while they were engaged in their lockdown pastimes; letters written to their future selves; and photo diaries which documented their week.
